THE ART COLLECTION IN LÜNEBURG
After a long search for a location, the "KUNSTSAMMLUNG HENNING J. CLAASSEN" opened its doors on 1st of september 2022 in the new art museum at St.-Ursula-Weg 1 in the heart of Lüneburg. The collection is open daily from Thursday to Sunday between 11am and 6 pm.
The complete collection comprises over 500 works of contemporary art. Around 100 changing works are shown each year. The focus of the collection is its breadth and international diversity of contemporary paintings, graphics and sculptures.

THE COLLECTOR'S PHILOSOPHY
"I actually always collected with the intention of exhibiting the works in a gallery at some point. It would be a shame to own art and not make it accessible to everyone, to not share the joy of it. Many collectors acquire art because they expect it to increase in value. But I was looked for the increase in value in my company, not in the art. The passion of collecting is actually purely emotional."

The museum is a 20-minute walk from the railway station. Parking is available at the music school, the "Stadttheater Lüneburg" and on four other car parks opposite the museum.
