Nach langer Standortsuche hat die „KUNSTSAMMLUNG HENNING J. CLAASSEN“ am 1. September 2022 im neuen Kunstmuseum am St.-Ursula-Weg 1 im Herzen von Lüneburg ihre Tore eröffnet. Die Sammlung ist täglich von Donnerstag – Sonntag zwischen 11:00 und 18:00 Uhr geöffnet.
The complete collection comprises over 500 works of contemporary art. Approximately 100 different works are exhibited each year. The collection focuses on breadth and international diversity, featuring contemporary paintings, graphic art, and sculptures.

Nach langer Standortsuche hat die „KUNSTSAMMLUNG HENNING J. CLAASSEN“ am 1. September 2022 im neuen Kunstmuseum am St.-Ursula-Weg 1 im Herzen von Lüneburg ihre Tore eröffnet. Die Sammlung ist täglich von Donnerstag – Sonntag zwischen 10:00 und 17:00 Uhr geöffnet.
Die komplette Sammlung umfasst über 500 Werke zeitgenössischer Kunst. Es werden jährlich ca. 100 wechselnde Werke gezeigt. Schwerpunkt der Sammlung ist ihre Breite und internationale Vielfalt aus zeitgenössischen Gemälden, Grafiken und Skulpturen.
THE COLLECTOR'S PHILOSOPHY
“Actually, I always collected with the intention of exhibiting the works in a gallery at some point. It would be a shame to own art and not make it accessible to everyone, not to share the joy it brings. Many collectors acquire art because they expect it to increase in value. I, on the other hand, sought value growth in my companies, not in art. The passion for collecting is actually purely emotional in nature.”

The museum is a 20-minute walk from the train station. Parking is available at the music school, the Lüneburg City Theater, and in four other parking lots across from the museum.
